Les Tupper Nomination Information
Each year since 1969 the La Cañada Flintridge Coordination Council has presented the Les Tupper Community Service Award to individuals, organizations, and businesses which have given outstanding service to the community. A student Service Award was later added. Volunteerism, beyond job related duties, may be in areas of education, youth activities, cultural pursuits, religious, business, civic or social service. Nominees should demonstrate leadership qualities and service which bring positive recognition to themselves and to the community of La Cañada Flintridge. Nominees may be adult individuals, couples, organizations or businesses.
Les Tupper Student Service Award nominees shall possess outstanding personal attributes and be students in grade 11 or 12. The nominees should be actively participating in service-related activities that benefit both the school and the community of La Cañada Flintridge. Descriptions should include the youth’s initiative, commitment and follow-through. Offices and positions held in both school and community projects should be listed as well.
Les Tupper Special Service Award: On occasion, the Coordinating Council Board of Directors may choose to honor individuals, organizations, or businesses who are found to be worthy of recognition for their contributions to La Cañada Flintridge, but who do not meet the broad based volunteer requirements set forth in the Les Tupper Service Award Criteria, but rather have shown service in one special area of interest. Nominations for Special Service Awards should also be explicit in their description of service to the community of La Cañada Flintridge.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR NOMINATIONS
To assist the Coordinating Council Board of Directors in selecting the outstanding award recipients, your nominations should be specific. Conclusions should be supported by how, when, where, what, why, how long, who, number of hours, and should identify the people benefited. Conclusions such as “he/she is conscientious and dependable”, “very active” and “volunteers a lot” are too general. Describe specifics rather than generalities. More than one nomination by an organization or individual is acceptable.
